You can choose to enlist the services of a trusted professional for your larger and more technical projects but why not put your own kids to work on some of the smaller projects and make it all about family bonding time?

Painting

This is a great DIY project that you can do with the whole family. Although you will have to deal with some mistakes and some messes, painting with your kids is great way to get in some quality bonding time with them. It also makes them feel that they are really helping and contributing to a big household project. Before you start painting with your kids be sure to take the necessary steps for safety. The last thing you want or need is for anyone to get hurt in the process!

Planting A Garden

This is obviously a seasonal project but it’s a great one to focus on with your kids. Not only is planting a garden environmentally responsible, you will be able to enjoy your very own organically grown fruits and vegetables with your family. A cost savings from purchasing at the supermarket and a fabulous way to teach your kids how things grow among other things. Gardening is super relaxing and gets you out into the fresh air and into nature. This is another great way to spend time with your kids and teach them about the environment and how important taking care of it really is. Your kids will love spending quality time with you and getting messy and you can feel like mom of the year at least for the afternoon!

Updating the Playroom

This is probably the DIY project that your kids will get super excited about. Kids love to be active and their playrooms often times show the battle wounds of all of that super charged activity. From running around, to balls bouncing off the walls and everything else in between, the playroom is always in need of some extra TLC. You can plan some fun updates with your kids that you can do all together without worrying about spending too much out of your budget. Some super easy updates include changing out the theme of your playroom. From a design standpoint simply painting one or two opposing walls a super vibrant color will change up the entire look and feel of the room. You can also add fun elements like glow in the dark stars on the ceiling, or images of their favorite superhero’s or whatever it is that puts them into happy mode.
